Yupoo glossary: the vocabulary an album expects you to know
Yupoo listings assume a shared language: frames, batches, QC, consolidation. None of it is explained where you meet it first, which is why so much buying advice is really translation. Thirty terms, grouped by the job they do.
Structure
- AlbumA seller’s storefront
- A single Yupoo store, usually on a subdomain like something.x.yupoo.com. It contains category codes and product pages, and it is the unit people mean when they say “which album”.
- Album codeThe seller’s internal category number
- Category codes such as 5230586 are chosen by the seller and mean nothing outside the album. Useful for navigation, useless as a product taxonomy.
- BatchA production run
- Sellers refer to “the latest batch” when a product is re-produced. The batch is the reason two listings of the same model differ, and the reason a review from six months ago may no longer describe what ships.
- FrameOne photo in a listing
- Galleries are numbered frames of one directory: _01, _02, and so on. The sequence is habitual, which makes a missing frame meaningful.
- Cover shotThe first frame
- Always the most flattering image and the least evidential one. It exists to be clicked, not to answer questions.
- ListingOne product page
- The unit that matters: frames, caption, sometimes a size chart. Everything else in an album is navigation.
Inspection
- QCQuality check
- Photographs of your specific unit, taken before it ships — normally by an agent or warehouse, not the seller. QC is a comparison against the album, never a guarantee of authenticity.
- GLGeneral look, or gallery
- Context-dependent. In agent chats it often means a general set of photos; in album captions it can mark a gallery group. Ask which when the meaning changes your decision.
- PSPPre-shipment photos
- Another name for QC photos, used by agents. Same function: the last chance to reject a unit before it enters international transit.
- Rejection windowThe deadline to refuse a unit
- A short period after warehouse intake during which you can refuse. It is the only real leverage QC gives you, so ask for the exact deadline in writing.
- Bait and switchPhotos of one thing, delivery of another
- Usually a beautiful album frame and a different unit in the parcel. The defence is QC photos of the actual unit with measurements, not another look at the album.
- QC chatThe conversation where QC is requested
- Where the numbered shot list and the rejection deadline live. Keep it in one thread; splitting it across apps destroys the record.
Sizing
- Flat measurementGarment measured lying still
- Chest, shoulder, length and sleeve taken on a flat garment, not on a body. The only numbers comparable across sellers.
- Insole lengthInternal shoe length in cm
- Measured heel to toe inside the shoe. The only figure that lets you compare a sneaker across sellers and labels.
- RiseCrotch seam to waistband
- Front and back rise decide whether trousers sit at the waist or the hips. Almost never photographed, which is why pants are the most common sizing disappointment.
- Oversized cutA pattern, not a size
- A deliberate wider body and dropped shoulder. An oversized M can be wider than a regular L, which is why the letter alone is meaningless.
- ToleranceAcceptable measurement variance
- One centimetre for knits, half for woven, more where a shrink rate is stated. Tolerance belongs on your reference numbers, not on the seller’s claim.
- Sizing driftHow far a marked size sits from true
- The gap between the label and the actual measurements. Not a defect, just a fact of catalogues without shared sizing standards.
Logistics
- AgentA middleman who receives and forwards parcels
- Receives domestic parcels, takes QC photos, consolidates and ships internationally. Adds cost and adds the only inspection point you get.
- ConsolidationCombining parcels into one shipment
- The main reason to use an agent for multi-item orders. It also removes original packaging, so confirm what will be discarded.
- Volumetric weightWeight based on volume
- Length × width × height ÷ 6000 for centimetres. Carriers charge the higher of actual and volumetric, which is why a puffer costs like a brick.
- Chargeable weightWhat you are billed for
- The greater of actual and volumetric weight. The figure every shipping quote is really based on.
- Sensitive lineA route that accepts restricted goods
- Slower and less predictable than standard air, used for batteries, liquids and branded goods. Confirm the item in writing before paying.
- DeclarationThe value and contents stated to customs
- Must be consistent with the parcel. Under-declaring is the most common cause of a held parcel, and the loss falls on the buyer.
Risk
- DepositA partial payment to finance stock
- Normal when tied to a specific order and documented in writing. Not normal as an entry fee, a membership or a verification charge.
- Bait priceA price below the category floor
- A number low enough to bypass judgement. Either the item is different, the stock does not exist, or the money is the product.
- SeizureCustoms retains the parcel
- Usually uncompensated on budget lines. Read the line’s terms before choosing it rather than after the letter arrives.
Promotion
- RefA referral parameter in a link
- This site appends ref=yupoo.asia to every outbound link so the catalogue can attribute the visit. It changes nothing about the price you see.
- rel="sponsored"A machine-readable disclosure
- Marks a link as commercial. Search engines require it for paid or incentivised links, and readers deserve it regardless.
- AffiliatePaid on referred traffic or sales
- A commercial arrangement between a publisher and a merchant. The disclosure lives in the page, not in a footnote nobody reads.
FAQ
Glossary questions
Why do these terms differ between sellers?
Because albums are individual shops, not a standardised marketplace. A shared vocabulary exists only where agents and buyers forced one, which is why QC and consolidation have consistent names and sizing does not.
Which terms matter most for a first order?
Frame, flat measurement, insole length, QC and rejection window. Those five cover the distance between a listing and a decision.
Is “batch” a quality claim?
No. A newer batch can be better or worse. It is a version number, and version numbers matter because reviews describe one specific version.
Core terms are taken from this site’s eighteen-keyword map; the rest are page-specific long-tail phrases. Google stopped using the meta keywords tag as a ranking signal in 2009 — the tag is still emitted for other engines and for editorial discipline, but ranking comes from the title, the H1, the first paragraph, internal anchors and the body copy.
